The Truth
Like Today was Your Last

Many people live life carelessly, not giving heed to time, past, present or future.
When you ask a multitude of today's youth what are their plans for the future, they may not be able to tell you about plans past next month. A serious outlook towards a positive future is not a main concern. Instead, they are more worried about their jeans or sneakers.
Young adults are not very far behind the youth. The attitude started with this generation. I know so many people in their mid 20s and not doing anything toward a productive future. Living life like time will wait on them, they do not realize that each day they are growing older and not preparing for a healthy future.
The relaxed feeling that "I can do it tomorrow" comes from society not striving for anything. When there is no immediate struggle, people tend to become comfortable with where they are and how they are living. Making advancement and being better than the last generation is the purpose for all living things. We, as humans, sometimes stunt our development by convincing ourselves that we are okay where we are in life.
When a sense of comfort is taken away, eyes tend to be opened wider; the wool is removed from their eyes. After 9/11, Americans raised their level of awareness and concentrated on safety. That moment in time let Americans know that today could easily be anyone's last. Tomorrow is not something that is guaranteed or promised to you.
Tomorrow will not wait. No one will make your future more promising for you than you. A lot of college students believe that just because they got to college and get a degree, they are guaranteed a job afterwards. That is so not the case. A large multitude of college graduates are unemployed. They went to school and got a degree, but they did not put enough leg work into their immediate future while in college. Now they are in the real world running around trying to find a job because those loan payments will not wait.
When an opportunity presents itself you should always be ready to reap the benefits. I like to "stay ready so I do not have to get ready". So, college is the perfect place to take advantage of all of the various chances you have to network, do internships and other productive actions that will be beneficial for a more promising future.
