Get advice from Ms. Tiree
Section: Opinion
Who do you talk to about your personal issues or problems? Maybe a relative, a friend, a counselor or even a professor you've become fond of? The truth is, many college students feel they have no one to talk to without the fear of being judged or labeled. We've seen in recent events how students like Seung-Hui Cho from Virginia Tech have resulted to suicide because they could no longer deal with the troubles they felt they had to hold inside. Ironically, when such tragic events take place, most of us wonder, "why didn't they just talk to someone?"
The Spartan Echo wants to provide students and staff at NSU the opportunity to ask questions about issues you feel you cannot openly discuss with your peers. We invite all Echo readers to write in about any personal issues you are going through and wish to share with others who may be going through a similar situation. From thoughts of suicide or potentially being pregnant, to relationship problems or drama between friends. We want to provide free advice to you.
Ms. Tiree, an Echo writer who chooses to remain anonymous, will give advice from a female perspective on questions readers send to the Echo. She is not a psychologist, nor a professional counselor, but simply a student, providing a student opinion on student issues. Those who write in are asked to create an alias to explain the situation you are in and the question or dilemma you have concerning the issue. Readers can drop off letters in the Ms. Tiree dropbox located on the 3rd floor of the Student Union Center in Room 318 or send letters via email to mstiree@gmail.com.
