Program is expanding and has new name

The Global Affairs program at Norfolk State University has changed its name and broadened its field of study. The program's name has been changed to International Education and Global Initiatives. The International Education and Global Initiatives program began October 1, and it coordinates and directs all international activities and programs at NSU, including study abroad.

The Student Government Association sponsored "Big Brother, Big Sister" program aims to give back to the city that birthed Norfolk State. Students have mixed feelings on upcoming NSU police station

Due to open in February of 2008, the new Norfolk State University Police Station has caused mixed feelings among many Norfolk State students. The building which is currently under contruction in the Norfolk Community Hospital parking lot has eliminated over sixty parking spaces, and is inconveniencing some students.

Community health forum gives tips on living healthier

On Wednesday November 7 at 11a.m. in the L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center, a Community Forum was held. The forum, which was entitled Spartan Healthy Fitness Initiative; Get Fit, Get Moving consisted of three panelist. The Forum was held in hopes to educate students as well as faculty members on the importance of a good diet and exercise.

In 2004, Norfolk State University was introduced to Ahmad Durant-Bey. A native of Temple Hills, Maryland, Ahmad rose to the forefront of the poetry circuit at Norfolk State, as well as other venues in the Hampton Roads area. With his eyes set on the future, however, Ahmad or better known in the poetry world as "Da Silencer," took a step back from performing last year to focus on his future.
