MEAC Basketball Tournament set

NORFOLK, Va. - The official seedings and matchups were announced Friday morning, March 5, for the 2010 MEAC Basketball Tournament, which runs next Tuesday through Saturday at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Brees and Saints win Super Bowl, 31-17 over Colts

MIAMI, Fla. (AP) - The ultimate underdogs, they ain't. Not anymore. The Saints are Super Bowl champions now.

Who Dat? Try Drew Brees, Sean Payton and a team that has reversed its embarrassing past, carrying an entire city to the top with it.

Put away those paper bags forever.

Saints beat Vikings in OT, reach 1st Super Bowl

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A 40-yard field goal in overtime by a little-known kicker could become as famous as jambalaya in these parts. The New Orleans Saints, a team with no home and an uncertain future five years ago, are heading for their first Super Bowl. By battering Brett Favre and beating the Minnesota Vikings 31-28, they set off celebrations on Bourbon Street that locals never could have imagined in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Manning, Colts rally past Jets, reach Super Bowl

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - This is perfect for the Indianapolis Colts: They have Peyton Manning and they're back in the Super Bowl. The four-time MVP threw three touchdown passes and the Colts rallied from an 11-point, first-half deficit to beat the New York Jets 30-17 Sunday in the AFC championship game.

Winter Olympics 2010: Speed-Skating

The 2010 Winter Olympics, in Vancouver, Canada, has been an interesting ride since it began Feb. 12, 2010. The men's speed-skating has been an event to watch, especially those representing the United States. With 60 medals under USA's belt for speed-skating alone, there was bound to be a great deal of promise for more metals in this year's Winter Olympics.

Women's Basketball: The only way is up

Last season, the Norfolk State women's basketball team suffered a 1-27 record. In the off-season they looked for a new coach and found someone from the team's past. The present interim coach, Debra Clark, was an assistant coach at NSU from 1987-1994 and jumped at the opportunity to become the interim head coach.

Winners never prosper

Norfolk State University has thirteen different sports teams on its campus, some of which get more attention and praise than others. Whether or not they get the respect they deserve, the most accomplished and successful athletics program at NSU is the men's Track & Field and Cross Country program run by Coach Kenneth Giles.
